    Hello Mr Spielberg,
Pls be more clearer in your statements, What is SS, who is saying what and when. What is your interpretation …if any.
No point starting a thread without proper description of the problem/issue/concern/statement.
    Do you know 6 Sigma.
    Have you used it.

We are all dying.  In fact, when I read these posts I die a little every time.
Ps.  Did you seee that post where someone quoted Stan?  That is a sure sign that the end is near.

Spielberg, my friend, then six sigma methodology will always be there.
It may have customizations, may have new avtars but will always find its prominence.
As a certified BB, have you noticed the power of Six Sigma.
This is one methodology which has the power of all statistical tools, power of all quality tools, people managements and change management measures and has a proven record. It is not a model that would find prominence in specific aeas like CMMI, COPC. It is used diversely.
The methodology may change its name but would still exist. As a quality person we should not get perturbed with these statements and should use six sigma methodology effectively to prove its dominance.
Two sets of people really mar the image of Six Sigma…one who do not believe in quality and two who wants to use Six Sigma name for personal gains only.

I dont think so. it may be dead in some organisation due to the people those implemented wrongly.
Six sigma got the fundamentals from TQM Concepts. Its has a sound base. It wont die. But, Versions may come adding or deleting some tools in the name of some quality standards…
I have seen so may copycats(organisations) going for six sigma on seeing their competitors in a hasty manner without doing any risk analysis, clarity and maturity of the company.
My opinion is SS survival depends upon the Champions and Master Black Belts and most important is management commitment.
And also proper awareness and training shall make this SS concepts to evolute for years…

    Suresh Kumar,
How did you make the decision that it got the fundamentals from TQM?

If you follow this website’s straw poll on Six Sigma (http://www.sixsigma.com/sixsigma), you will have observed that the the pecentage of people who call Six Sigma “hype” has increased over the years, with the Six Sigma “truth” percentage declining.  “Truth” still holds a slight lead (0.3%) over “hype”, but a 38.3% “truth” percentage for Six Sigma hardly qualifies as indicating resounding success in the world at large.
