does anyone have ever done a project on standardization? i mean, you have several type of settings, colors, weights, lengths, …and the goal is to reduce the number of parts on inventory. If yes, what are the tools you used in each phase?
thx in advance0May 15, 2002 at 4:33 pm #75468This is normally a DFSS project as you must educate your design team on what the availalbe option are to them.
A QFD is a great tool to define what is important to the customer in the interaction portion ofthe QFD you will discuss how standardization will affect the ultimate output.
Other than a QFD it is a standard DMAIC approach0May 15, 2002 at 5:09 pm #75470There are several tools that you can use, but I would probably start with a activity flow chart/process map. Identify parts that have like flows, cycle times, and resource allocation. Pareto charts can be useful in stratifying data/parts. Other tools could include product capability, FMEAs, and deployment flow charts.
