    Dear Kristen:
I am interested in knowing the source of the “Patient Out to Patient In” benchmarks.  I have been having difficulty locating this particular benchmark and would appreciate any info you could provide.  My e-mail address is [email protected]
    Thank you,
    Mary

    Aiman,
There are a many measurement indicators around surgical start and end times. We use from incision to incision, others are from pt point of entry to point of exit. Another is from incision to close. Benchmark indicators and the results they can yeild are ambiguious at best. Size of Hospital, surgical team, type of procedure, instrumentation and patient condition can be identical with very different statistical outcomes.
The AORN has archived articles on surgical benchmark data.
    Good luck, Dana
