    Does anyone have or know of a time study template that they would be willing to share?  I am looking at doing a time study to see how our technicians are spending their time to see how productive they are or not?  Trying to identify any waste and how to eliminate it. Also, I am looking to see what ideas, issues, and suggestions that you may have in conducting such a study.
    Thanks,
    Bill

    I’ve found that the NHS Modernisation Agency in the UK has developed some good tools and guides to improvement related to waste elimination in health care and more.  They may be worth a read.  A lot of the material pertains to clinics, radiology, etc., and contain some tools/approaches to identify waste.  Here’s a website, but you may have to dig around to find what you need.

    Hi Bill;
    I’ve done several time studies of radiology processes.  Are you looking for a template to use for collecting times or to help analyze the times already collected?

    Hi Bill,I have a template I can e-mail you if you want one. Beware that
    doing a time study is fraught with measurement error. A good
    time study Engineer has 40 hrs of training and significant
    experience. You need to be aware of issues that will cause you to
    make the wrong decision.Regards,Adam

    send me an e-mail and I’ll dig one out and send it back to you.The only thing to be aware of is how to set up and conduct one
    especially when they know they are being watched/timed
    (Hawthorn effect).Regards,Adam
