Does a tool or template exist to help complete a Why/Because analysis?  I currently use MS Word… it is very time consuming to document  in a format that can easily be understood.

Why dont you use a cause and effect analysis.

Would a cause and effect analysis be done in place of a Why/Because?
    I thought a Why/Because was a form of cause/effect analysis?
    Am I confused?
    Thanks

It sounds like your Why/Because diagram is cumbersome.   Try the Ishikawa/Cause and Effect/CEDAC diagram.   If you have minitab, it’s as simple as clicking an icon and entering a few lines of text.

I do have Minitab. (Novice user)   Which icon are you referring to?

Why-Because is more complicated than the Ishikawa diagram.

Click on the Stat Icon and follow this route:
    Stat/Quality tools/Cause and Effect/
You can manipulate the labels, but the default choices should cover just about every Cause.

I have used MS Visio for Fishbones and Why/Because Diagrams.  Also, Minitab Quality Companion has some tools in it for Why/Because.  Other than that I also use Powerpoint or Excel, but not very user friendly for these templates, but other can get the files easier.
