I am interested in acquiring six sigma training & hopefully becoming a master black belt, I am new to six sigma-all I know is what I have learnt from the web in the past two months. I have been through a lot of different courses that are being offered all over the world. Would someone please advice on the best recognised and reasonably priced training available??I live in Pakistan!

    Ali,
I don’t know if I can be much help to you or not.  I have my serious doubts about e-training courses, but there are a number of them available so that is always a possibility.
Most of the consulting firms contract with companies, not individuals.  I am not familiar with your part of the world and whether there are any individual training courses available.  One source of individual training in the U.S. is from TQM Network.  It is a non-profit corporation in Fort Wayne, Indiana, U.S.A.  They offer very good training (seveal former GE trainers) for individuals at a reasonable cost.
You can check them out at tqmnet.com.

The University of Texas at Austin offers one of the most time efficient programs on the market today, which should be of interest to you due to travel time.  Through a partnership with Air Academy Associates, UT offers a two-week public Six Sigma Black Belt program.  Currently, they are finishing up an offering in Phoenix, AZ but typically the courses are held in Austin, TX.  UT’s website contains complete information of the topics covered, the integrated software and materials, and the knowledge-based management philosophy.  UTsixsigma.org
    Good luck!

The best guy I know of in that part of the World is Dr. Shree Nanguneri. You can reach him at [email protected].

There are several online training programs ranging from $3000 to $30,000. It depends on what you want to spend. Make sure your training includes a mentor or person who will help you through the training and your first project. If $3000 is too much money, start by reading The Six Sigma Revolution by George Eckes. What type budget do you have?

    Dear Charlie
Thank you! Well the budget really depends on the returns that I can get after the training- I would be willing to spend around 20000 if it is feasible! Could you guide me to some good contacts that conduct training in this region-I live in Pakistan!

    Ali,
My compliments on the budget question. This has always been a “Value Proposition” based on the ROI. The old idea of what is the budget and training is an expense is a paradigm that needs to go away.
Still the guy in the area is Shree. You might find a problem getting people into Pakistan right now.

    Dear Ali
I know that Smarter Solutions from the States are organising Six Sigma conferences as well as Black Belt training in Asia, specifically in Singapore and Malaysia.  Perhaps you could find more information on http://www.SmarterSolutions.com and http://www.partners-conference.com
