What are the pros and cons to these two different SS training / certification programs?
1. A hierarchical approach, in which everyone starts at an initial level (something below a Green Belt maybe a White or Yellow Belt nomenclature) and progresses through a stepped training curriculum onto Master Black Belt (assuming that they are successful at each level). And with each level greater responsibility and more challenging improvement projects that instill greater understanding.
2. A direct approach, in which personnel are directly placed into various levels of SS (Yellow, Green, Black, and Master Black) based upon managements impression of an individuals qualification. Projects are required for certification; just fewer are accomplished because personnel were not required to perform subordinate level projects prior to their present level.
I have my opinion on this but I need a little advice (as ammunition) on this one

Ken FeldmanParticipant@DarthInclude @Darth in your post and this person will
be notified via email.Ed, I am in favor of option two but the flaw there is “management’s impression of an individual’s qualification”. Replace that with something more objective and you save a lot of time and effort.

Thanks for the feedback.
Unfortunately it seems that “management’s impression” usually reflects “if the individual works at HQ then they must be qualified to function at the most senior levels, and if they are not employed at HQ then they must not be qualifited.” Hence, why I favor the appoach of letting folks prove their worth before passing judgement.
Hope all is well. I had the opportunity to meet Shawn West and Steve Alverez out west this past week. We had a busy week with NI. Take care…0 -
