    Hello all,
    How to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of training program?
    Training needs are identified based on skill gap analysis for each individual every quarter.
    Thank you,
    Nanda

    Dear Nanda,
    I am new to this Six Sigma stuff. I am attached to Panasonic group in Malaysia and am struggling in all issues of Six Sigma.
    Anyway, I did come across training evaluation in Quality Journals.
    Q ( Quality ) = D/(nΒ  * OFD )
    D = defect , n = no of inspected quantity , OFD = opprtunity for defect.
    Thanks

    One can evaluate the effectiveness of a training progam by how muchΒ it has changed the work behavior of the trainees.Β  How often have the trainees applied the tools and methods learned and over what period of time?Β  More importantly, what kind of results have they been able to bring about?Β  As it relates to Six Sigma, what kind of financial returns have they brought about for the company by the use of the tools?Β  How have they improved productivity and reduced cycle times?Β
    If the answers to these questions are easy to find an quantifyable, use them as numberators and the cost or the time involved in training them as the denominator of an equation and do the math.Β
    I think that may be a quick and dirty way to quantify the effectiveness and effeciency of your training.
    Hope this helps……….

    The Kirkpatric model is particularly well suited to Six Sigma. My first recommendation is that you get the book and read up on it very well.
    Second, within the framework of the Kirkpatric model you must pay particular attention to how well the new skills are generalized from project to another.Β  Typically most Six Sigma programs heavily mentor and coach the candidateΒ through the certification project.Β  This leaves it highly questionable whether they can act autonomously as they move on to the next project.

    I think effectiveness is evaluated based on the output / objective.
    If training effectiveness to be evaluated then some exam as such can be conducted & effectiveness can be evaluated.
