It is my understanding that ratios can be treated as either continuous or discrete, depending on whether their numberator/denominator is continuos or not…If this is true, then “the book” tells me to use it as discrete, but I am wondering if there is not a more practical interpretation….If dealing with an entire population of data with over 100 distinct categories in the measure, do I really need to look at binary regression or chi square testing vs. muliple linear regression and ANOVA?

Just treat it as a continuous distribution if your
have 100 categories. Why make it hard on yourself?
The results will be the same.

    My thoughts exactly.  Thanks!
