    Posting this simply as food for thought. My bank informed me that I should allow 5 days for delivery of first class mail via USPS. My bank is 10 minutes away and the post office is right around the corner. A recent letter to the editor in the local newspaper said that he’d mailed a toll road transponder (which is essentially a tracking device) from Richmond VA to another city about a hundred miles away. It went from Richmond VA to Greensboro NC to Jersey City NJ to NYC then back to Richmond! and arrived at the destination 9 days after mailing. USPS uses regional sorting centers where the expensive high-speed equipment is located and distribution hubs for efficient logistics. Okay. But doesn’t “lean” teach us that excess transport and handling is waste? And since a defect is failure to meet customer specifications and expectations…
