Way too much trouble to try and decide which category to use for posting and then try to track via that category. I like the old single conglomerate of topics. Thanks to Don for suggesting this. I can hang out here without worrying about what I am talking about. Now Don and I and the other usual suspects can chat without reserve. Or at least we can try.

The forum has been a lot more boring since the new version came out. I miss the snarking.

    Darth,

    Thanks for the props.

I like to be able to go to one spot and read the discussions instead of pointing and clicking through a myriad of subjects. This decreases NVA activity, right?

Now if we can just get Stan/MBBinWi and Mike Carnell posting, this could be a great place for information and informative debates.

ps. Darth how I’ve missed you!

    Don

I think it is similar to the question what comes first … the cart or the horse. To my mind, this is the only Quality forum offering realistic debate, reasoning, disagreement, insults, and cussedness. In other words, many posters can find real life training here they won’t be able to find in textbooks or standing in front of a room of salarymen and women.

Every green belt, backbelt ought to know how to persuade, argue, and reason. without threatening to fire someone “if they don’t get it!”

The advertising hook should be subsidiary to the forum – otherwise, there will be no reason to visit or to recommend the site to colleagues or customers.

Having spent a few years on the old forum (mostly lurking, I admit), I’m glad to see the creation of this General board. Hopefully, we’ll get some good give and take, like the old site had.

But I’m worried this is setting up the new forum to have two sets of users – regulars who use the General board, and new folks, who will post in the “appropriate” section and get few replies. That will only serve to discourage new or infrequent posters, something I’d like to avoid – it’s questions from those folks that kept the old forum moving, just as much as the great replies and frequent snark from the forum regulars.

Are the rest of you still monitoring the other areas of the forum to address questions posted there, or are you going to spend your time here?

    Cathy,
Until you post a hot pic of you, I won’t answer any more posts. As to this question, I usually hit the Recent discussions first and do a quick scan. I don’t check each category. The Recent button cuts across categories. If something looks interesting, I check it out. The General Category should be renamed the Kibbitz category for old time bs’ing.
