I am supposed to give a paper on “variables in six sigma”
i am confused about what should be included in it.Does it include the special and assignable causes of variation, or the inherent causes of variation like man, machine. material, method etc or the black and white noise variations.
I want to be specific in my paper and not be very general So please help..

That is a relatively vague question, however, one might review the variables that go into implementing a six sigma program.

Ya the question is really vague. But i donot have any choice but to pursue this question as it is an assignment given. Do u think we can talk about the black noise and white noise in the process and the DMAIC way to measure process capability, Gage R&R etc??

    Sachin,
You should clarify the question.  It is way to vague.
In good Six Sigma form – figure out what the customer’s needs are first, then work to meet them.  (pretty corny, but what kind of teacher would leave you out to dry if you provide them with all these different possible angles to their assignment anyway?)
    Good luck

    Hi
The question is vague. Let me ask you this question what is the objective of this assignment? Is it more managerial or technical?

    Sachin,
Do you get the idea that your question is vague?
If that was as specific an assignment as you were given “variable in six sigma” and you want to be specific, then you will be writing a paper that will rival “War and Peace” or even The World Book Encyclopedia.  You’ve pretty much covered the basics – special, assignable, inherent, human, machine, method, black, white, etc.
If there is more to this assignment, please let us know.  If not, I am thinking the instructor wants to see if you understand just how vast the subject is.  In that case, I would be somewhat general in addressing the types of variation, and give some specific examples and results / symptoms of each of those….. if that makes sense.
    Good luck on your paper.
