Hi All ,
I want to know the value of IQF, USA certificates..
Regardsroxy
0September 23, 2005 at 9:03 am #127348IQF is an international body and is engaged in development and expansion of Six Sigma culture globally. It also certifies MBB, BB and GB’s. Because of it’s international stature, persons certified by IQF are very well received in the market.
By the way, Mr. Puneet Prakash Singh, is your company going for IQF certification ??????0September 23, 2005 at 12:11 pm #127361There is no value, they are just academic exercises.

Read this thread about the IQF. There has already been a lot of discussion on this point.

0September 24, 2005 at 7:47 pm #127394I’m confused:what about the ASQ Certification??
0September 24, 2005 at 8:41 pm #127395What are you confused about? Both are not worth very much. Go get a certification from a Fortune 100 company and you’ll be much better off, more educated, more focused on business results (the point of the certification), and more desirable by other companies.

ChalapathiParticipant@ChalapathiInclude @Chalapathi in your post and this person will
be notified via email.I have done Ph.D. in quality and worked in Industry, teaching, consulting. Published 3 books on six sigma in India. Trained and consulted for many companies in India and several other countries. I feel sorry to some of the comments about IQF certification. Basic mistake my friends are making is looking at certification as a standalone process and expecting a lot from that.
Developing good Black Belts involves many things, selecting the right people, good training, project facilitation, coaching, then certification. Certification is not everything. My experience tells me the project facilitation, coaching and mentoring is the real CTQ in Black Belt development and certificvation is not a CTQ. If you are familier with Kano model, I would like to put certification under dissatisfier. If you have all the knowledge, skills, and attitute to be a good Black Belt not having a Black Belt certification may be a small negative point if you attend an interview for job change. But having a certificate without skills is really bi problem. You may get a good job, but you will loose it soon. If the real stiff is not there you can not deliver.
I have worked as a six sigma consultant for about five years with any certificate. Laster year formally qualified for IQF MBB. Earlier also my clients have not bothered about the certificate. What certification has helped me personally – I know that my skills are similar many other people in the field. If I am not good, this might have helped to know my week areas. More over, I have a certificate if some client insists on formal qualification.
Certification is like passport. It does not give any confidence that you are the best Black Belt. It just accoknowledges that you have the basic skills to be qualified as Black Belt.
I am representing IQF in India and when people approach me for IQF certification, I will ask for the projects and review and if they are not good, I am not allowing them to take the IQF exam. That is my responsibility.0September 26, 2005 at 2:08 pm #127427
Customer of Dr ChalapathyParticipant@Customer-of-Dr-ChalapathyInclude @Customer-of-Dr-Chalapathy in your post and this person will
be notified via email.I m not here to comment on IQF.
I contacted Chala for some certification purpose. With a decade of six sigma implementation experience in manufacturing, service, hospitality, financial industry, the purpose of contacting the indian representative of IQF was to get certified. Anyone can visit IQF site and they talk about how different they are from ASQ. (especially non-profit making).
But Chala was offering me a certification suite not just for me but for all the people i can gather for him. He was offering a free certification if i could persuade some of my clients/contacts to buy his suite!!!
Couple of months later i was interviewing a candidate for operations role who told me that he is will be MBB certified in couple of months..Guess what.. this guy has 4 years of total work exp, no six sigma project experience, no training exp. On examination i understood that Chala had promised him a MBB certification.
Suggestion to all : If you seek certification from IQF do it directly and not from Chala
Suggestion to the President of IQF : If you value the reputation of IQF and customer feedback you should choose to operate through another franchise
All the best

The _ OneMember@The-_-OneInclude @The-_-One in your post and this person will

ASQ is one of the better certification as far as holding some sort of standard and not draining the pocketbook.
Consider college, how many people achieve some sort of degree and never live up to what society expects.
Education + experience + leadership + (education x experience) + (education x leadership) … = big $. Sorry that I cannot provide you the coefficients for this equation or level of significant.0September 26, 2005 at 2:52 pm #127429to directly answer your question, i passed the MBB exam, got another job and a $20K/year raise. that is the monetary value of it.
the intellectual value of it is almost zero. it can be useful for understanding advanced statistical methods but is useless for understanding six sigma. all questions (but 2 i think) are quantatative. the asq exam ensures the applicant has an understanding of what six sigma is as well as an understanding of the tools it utilizes.
hope this helps.
