Any suggestions for software to handle weibull and MTBF? This seems to be a gap or shortcoming of MiniTab. I’ve found a package by Reflex online, but we’re looking at close to $20K for a full set and it’s about $6K for just their reliability prediction and Weibull packages. Seems a little pricey to me.

Dave:I just did some Weibull related work on censored data using Minitab. What are you doing that might require the Relex package? I turned to Minitab when I found that WiebullSMITH has disappeared.Cheers, Alastair

What do you mean WiebelSMITH disappeared — WinSMITH by Wes Fulton and Bob Abernethy is alive and well!

I’ve used WinSmith before but the interface has always been a little awkward and non-intuitive. Right now if nothing else I’m looking to buy a copy of that. What I’m more interested in is a package that also does does MTBF prediction. I’ve recently moved from a company that makes mostly mechanical products to the electronics industry and I’m finding that it’s all but impossible to do reliability prediction manually or using a hodge-podge excel tool for electronics. The calculations are pretty simple when you’re talking about less than 50 components. When you have literally 100’s of PCB board components, soldered joints, you need a software package that can do block modelling.

To answer your question, yes I do know of an awesome sofware package priced 1/5 the cost of this. I do not know if I am allowed to post in forum but if you get ahold of me at eddy 4292 @ gmail.com, I can put you with the company and you will be very happy.
