Why is 6 sigma considered as the best performance index, how did 3.4 defect per million oppurtunities calculation come into , what  is the process shift of +/-1.5 sigma mean? And why is it considered?

New-VGB, there is another process improvement forum that you should take a look at.   Your experience in engineering and consulting along the lines of continuous process improvement would be invaluable to us on the ASTD Performance Improvement Discussion Board.   Some of the comments and topics have specifically been in regard to Six Sigma, Lean and other process improvement initiatives in Arab speaking countries.

Spend some time there and you will see opportunity to strongly contribute.   See you on the “other” forum.   Your friend, Daleel.

    New-VGB,

I was quite surprised to see the negativity and anger expressed in your responses to my recommendation.   I re-read my postings and simply do not see other than my intent, a polite and professional telling you about another forum in which you might also be interested in participating.

If you are not interested in expanding your horizon and gaining perspectives in addition to those found here, simply don’t log into it.

My calling you my “friend” was in the context of all people being my friend not in the context of our being intimately familiar with and knowing each other.

Your postings have, for sometime, given the indication that you have a thirst for learning.  Some post to display knowledge and some post to engage and learn.    I had picked you for the latter.

The name Daleel means “guide” in Arabic, it does not mean “threat” or “antagonist”.

I apologize for  being inpolite, for  my  negative  response and  the  misunderstanding.I will  not  hesitate  to  open  your  suggested  site, but I’m  very  interested  in  this  particular  Forum because of  its  “inter-national character”:giving  opportunity  to  read  the opinions and  ideas of  diffirent persons with rich  background in  knowledge  and  experience.  best  regards

No need to apologize.  I understand what you are saying and your concerns, but I wanted to explain the original posting if you’d misinterpreted intent.   And I agree this forum does have international characters as well as the occasional intergalactic character.

ASTD is also an international community, but the main thing is to find a group, discipline and body of knowledge that meets your needs for growth, development and contribution and if you are already there, great.

Just kiss and make up – and next time, keep your spats private. This is a public forum.
