    Hello all,
You have a server farm with 100 servers. You have been told your goal is zero outages. Which of the control charts would you use to track any outages on a weekly basis and why that particular control chart? I would really like to hear your thoughts on which control chart and then if you have a better idea for tracking, I would love to hear that too.
    Many Thanks

How many outages do you typically get per week?

Use an NP chart. If you’re using MINITAB, look in the Attributes Control Chart Overview in Help, and click on NP Chart. You’ll see a similar example on vehicle breakdowns.
    Good Luck!

First off, zero outages is an unrealistic goal.  It is not going to happen.  I would track it based on time: time down/total time per week and use a X-mR chart.  The number of outages really doesn’t tell you anything.   I would want to know the % of time the system is not available.
