Hi,
My company recently set the new target – Zero Defect!!! Well, how true is zero defect?? for example: in CNC machining manufacturing env where human is greatly involved. can really zero defect achievable?
anyone able to clear my doubt?

sixsigma is only 99.9999967 % which means if you make 3.4 defects per million. I think even motorola company is not yet on the 6 sigma level.
If your company set a zero defect, that goal is not achievable unless you stop inspection and delivery to your customer.
0June 17, 2005 at 12:44 am #121589i agree with you that this goal is unchieveable esp when it involves a lot of human factors….if wanna replace them with automation..that will be another bomb of $$$..however, how can i convince my ideal upper management that?

Don’t tell your managers that you cannot achieve zero defect. You might get fired.0 -
