I would think that analysis of 180 of the cases would likely be a sufficient quantity, but then any conclusions that you reach based on this analysis would only apply to future patients that “follow the inclusion criteria”. If you wanted your conclusions to apply to the entire population then you would have to choose your sample randomly or in…[Read more]

That helps a lot, but to be honest, other than the possiblility of upper end management, I don’t know of anyone at my company that uses the SS methodology. On the other hand, I have heard many good things about it and would like to bring it to our department which handles the process flows and decisions for many other departments.
As far as the…[Read more] -

McD,
Thank you very much for your comments and insight.
I’m hoping to find a position that will allow me to work on several projects before I even attempt teaching. As for the stat degree, it is in applied statistics. I know a lot about the theory and math behind many statistical procedures; however, the thrust of my education was on a…[Read more] -

Ric,
I suggest a review of John P. Kotter’s objectives in “The Heart of Change” also availabe at heartofchange.com
With those objectives and elements of effective communication in mind you could complete a “stakeholder analysis” which identifies each department, team or individual that is impacted by your communication or change initiative…[Read more] -

Mr.Carnell,
You and Mr. Stewart give completely different answers. He says integration will dilute, you say integration is the only way. From the story he tells, he has better experience. Which advice is right? -

JP,
Mike is a real big boy, he can take care of himself. I am intrigued by people who use places like this to reinvent themselves. Mikey is doing just take so I pick on him occassionally. As Mike points out, we all have the right to read or not read, respond or not respond.
Back to Tom’s comment, what intellectual snobbery! A forum where…[Read more] -

Tom,
Get real. If the level of knowledge on this site is an indicator of knowledge of the 6 sigma community, we are in trouble. The questions are basic and we have a low level manager from Motorola, Mike Carnell, out here pretending to be the fountain of knowledge and getting away with it.
Go worry about something that matters, like getting a…[Read more] -

The George Group is a very well polished, very professional acting consulting group. But they are Johnny come lately’s to the Six Sigma world. When I meet them I am impressed, the same way I am impressed by Anderson consultants – make your own conclusions.
Their Lean Six Sigma is trivial. They are acting like they have some original thought here.…[Read more] -

Mr Coordinated BB,
Get a clue. Mr Bhote does not know Six Sigma. He has never done it and he just repackages Shanin material to follow and take advantage of current trends. -
