Benjamin replied to the topic Project Management Office in the forum Software/IT 12 years, 5 months ago
We have a PMO office with both PMI and SixSigma certified project managers. From our experience the more knowledgeable, the project manager in PMBOK the more resourceful he/she will be in BPI methodology. Our office is more service based and is not a software development unit or part of production. We found that many BPI projects initiated never…[Read more]

We would also be interested in any projects that have already addressed this, as well as models and variables used.

I remember that University of Texas @ Austin and Villannova University have some Six Sigma Training Course. If you want to have an MBA focus on Operations, that will be a good fit.

Benjamin replied to the topic Coding Errors Reduction in the forum Software/IT 16 years ago
Management tends to group all errors together as coding errors. So when you’re looking at errors, be sure to differentiate actual coding errors and errors resulting from requirements, configuration, etc. There’s a definite cost difference. As a rule, coding errors are cheaper to correct than errors from requirements.
Another thing to look at…[Read more] -

Thank for your valuable inputs..
I agree with you on having flexibility with smaller companies.
I sat for my final discussion to understand what one of the Big5s wanted me to do.. I realized they were hung about their usual way of seeing everything as a strategy problem…rather than addressing operational issues as operational. They use…[Read more] -

I am unable to access Re: Tools to Prioritize Six Sigma Projects by sridhar on Tuesday, 22nd January 2002The post does not appear… just an index to recent posts. But I think I recall something called Analytical Hierarchical Process with pair-wise comparisons from about 20 or 30 years ago. Is that what we are discussing?

Benjamin replied to the topic R-Sq rule of thumb in the forum General 17 years, 4 months ago
Pablo
The Rsq is one of many statistics to consider in analyzing your DOE. Bear in mind the Rsq must never be used alone in decision making. Take a look at residual diagnostics, overall significance test, F test, individual t test for significant variables and more important the Rsq adj. that must be maximized and close to Rsq. Lack of fit test…[Read more] -

Gary,
I agree but my MBB would say that’s a terrible response. I can remember his response from my recent project, “how do you know your data is good unless you perform the msa?”
I’m on your side because it’s less work, but what is your response to his question?
I guess that if you know there’s a problem, then at least you know (rather than…[Read more] -

Benjamin replied to the topic Ensuring The Problem Stays Fixed in the forum General 18 years, 10 months ago
Why not have your AR centralized? Have one office that does the work for all 20. Then you could have a “contact” at each location if needed. Where I work, we have over 2 dozen manufacturing facilities. However, we use only one location to handle all customer complaint / warranties, etc. The principle would be the same.
Best wishes,

Benjamin replied to the topic Gneral questions aboutr six sigma in the forum General 19 years, 1 month ago
There is no “official.” The employees from Moto have dispersed throughout the world, and it seems like almost every large Six Sigma consulting firm has at least one principle that is “genetically linked to the original Moto days.” Try searching the left hand side Consultants > Six Sigma for more information on one that might fit your needs. Ritu,
Please stop propogating the error that Mikel Harry is the founder of Six Sigma. It is simply not true and is a slap in the face to Bill Smith, the true founder of Six Sigma from Motorola, as well as the group of other people from the Six Sigma Research Institute (the original group that banded together from multiple companies to come up…[Read more] - Load More
