The best tool in the analyze phase for set-ups and Change overs is a video camera. At the next event, set it up, let it roll, and review the video. Most likely it will be a good resource on how not to do a change over

After reviewing this entire messeage thread, I have noticed that Matt has only posted one time..the orginal question. Maybe Matt has learned that any question posted here experiences a 1.5 sigma drift. Or, maybe the process is so out of control, than Matt can not rely on the psoted data to allow him to draw any conclusion toward true north.

Understood. Now… If the Z Score and associated sigma level are based off of the nearest spec limit and your data is slightly moved to the right (for example). How are all of the defects that are on the left (below the Lower spec limit) accounted for? They cant be ignored?

I understand the connection between Z score and Sigma Level..but my thick head cant connect the dot to Std Dev and Sigma Level. Most tables list DPMO, Sigma, and CPK together, but not Std Dev.

Ron,
Thank you. Your response is to the point, professional, and free of the normal biting comments I find in the forum.
As a long time fly on the wall in here and recent poster, I have found a surprising amount of comments that would chase people away, and a lack of professional encouragement and mentoring.
So, again, Ron, thanks for well…[Read more] -

Thanks..So..Back to basics…If you find SCV..and fix it..that may very well(most of the time?) be the entire project?..or it may be something the boggs the entire project down..SCV..may be extremely hard to fix…correct?

Thanaks James..So you never simply remove the Data points?
-
Deka replied to the topic How do you collect variable data? in the forum General 13 years, 9 months ago
I think the 1st step is to name the defect. Which is missing in your question.

Remi,
I am not sure why it was not covered. Still not sure I grasp this. I know it should be simple.
