Yeah sounds like a good idea. I think I’ll be needing a bit of assistance over the next couple of months as I’ve just got back from holiday this morning and think I’ve forgotten most of what we learned last week. I’ve got no prob sharing my email address aswell: [email protected]

Johnny replied to the topic Discrete or Continuos data in the forum General 15 years, 3 months ago
Depends on what you want to do, there is a scale, however it is limited. In addition you could you a count type variable since it is 88 out of 100, etc…
All depends on what your goals are for the data, discrete data also requires a bit more of a sample size. -
Johnny replied to the topic How to do DOE if the Y is attribute in the forum General 17 years, 1 month ago
Hello Bhadrayya
I know this reply is a little late on this subject, I have only just researched this topic on the forum.
I too have been struggling with Attribute Y for DOE’s. I am involved with software and digital electronics, where the Y outputs are either correct/incorrect or on/off.
Please could you send me the case study so that I may…[Read more] -

Hello Mannu
I too have been pondering DOE for Software and also Digital Electronics, where the obvious output is pass/fail or on/off.
I’ve looked into some variable measures as the output of the experiment, such as execution time for software, but this is not always appropriate as the speed is of no concern just the correct…[Read more] -

Maha i have done this type of project. Your approach is correct. The best way to identify the bottleneck is by doing a time study. You would be able to see visually the bottleneck station just by identifying the most of the work in progress lies.
Good luck Johnny -

Hi Ken
I too have had such problems. When we are at conferences or technical discussions the bosses are all for world class implementation. But when it comes to the actual doing its a different story. I too introduced control charting on a line recently. It all looked good on paper until the manager of the area got frustrated with it. She soon…[Read more] -

Hi Connie
I am also working in a pharmaceutical. I dont have any case studies, but my recommendation is as follows: get the supplier/s of the raw materials to give you a Certificate of Compliance for raw material supplied. This certificate must guarantee this quality. Then upon receipt of raw materials no sampling has to take place. The…[Read more] -

Johnny replied to the topic Why is Six Sigma Training so Expensive??? in the forum General 20 years, 6 months ago
The key people in any business should distribute their KPI’s and the projects to pursue will come from these.. If pay back is 5000 grand then why spend 6000 grand on training? Significant payback should allow for significant payout on training.
THE problem is though? The KPI’s are hidden deep and projects are selected for their easines…[Read more] -

Thanks for the reminder, Carol, but that’s actually what brought my question here and I don’t think my query was addressed in that original thread.

I only just found this long debate. I am surprised to find so many optimists for six sigma. It seems many people have been very fortunate with their companies and projects, that there is little resistance in their six sigma undertakings.
Do you not have project team members who show little enthusiasm because they have plenty other work to d…[Read more]
