Erie County, N.Y., Executive Chris Collins is looking for the third deputy county executive of his first term.

Alfred Hammonds Jr. will resign as deputy county executive in early May to return to the University at Buffalo (UB), for a joint position with the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and the Department of External Affairs.

Before taking office, Collins recruited Hammonds from UB’s Center for Industrial Effectiveness. He asked Hammonds, an expert in Collins’ beloved management discipline, Lean Six Sigma, to serve as Erie County’s first-ever director of Lean Six Sigma.
