    Do the manufacturers use all the tools and techniques in lean or do they use what’s sufficient for the particular process?

    An important part of lean is to keep the workers. Manufacturers in US will use workers to improve the process and decrease waste, and then reduce the workforce – giving workers reason to not participate in quality initiatives

    yes, I agree but my concern is that the design process in manufacturing helps to reduce the material which in turn reduces cost.

    yes lean is eliminating waste, so i believe it would reduce the material and has continuous flow which in turn reduces the production costs. @kristyhotchkisses

    I work for Toyota, and Toyota has implemented TPS which has resulted in enormous changes. when compared both there is a huge difference between TPS and Lean. Lean is a continuous improvement depends mainly on kaizen, gemba, training and many other factors.
