For the second year in a row, financial services firm Mashreq, based in the United Arab Emirates, took home at least one award at the Continual Improvement Symposium Competition 2010, organized by the Dubai Quality Group.
The Mashreq submissions included one in the Innovation category and three Lean case studies in the Breakthrough Improvement category. The company won Gold and Bronze awards in the Breakthrough Improvement category and a Silver award in the Innovation category. Mashreq also won the Gold award in the Quality Quiz, Live Competition.
The key criteria for being named as a finalist in the awards program was the use of a structured methodology like Lean, Six Sigma or business process re-engineering, project management, results, business impact, learnings and replicability.
A total of 20 case studies were submitted from various organizations (10 in Breakthrough Improvement and 10 in Innovation). All case studies were assessed by independent evaluators, and five case studies were short-listed to be presented on the day of competition.
